"Prayer for Karmic Fortune" by Tsering Lhamo

Song: “Prayer for Karmic Fortune”
Singer: Tsering Lhamo

Ri dey yar lha sham po
Nga yi tsen pö gur lha
Mey po dren pay lu chung
Ri tsey drin par kur yö

The Yarlha Shampo mountain
Is my king’s sylvan deity
I send a short song in memory of my ancestors
Up to the clouds at the peak of the mountain

Ri wo gyur wa mey pay
Mön lam yang yang gyab yö

I pray again and again
That the mountain may never change

Tsho dey tri shor gyel mo
Nga yi lam tsho ngön mo
Mi shig dor jey tsho ter
Tsho mö shung la tab yö

The lake of Trishor Gyalmo
Is my blue spirit lake
I place an indestructible Vajra
In the center of the lake as a water treasure

Tsho mor dar kha drig pay
Mön lam yang yang gyab yö

I pray again and again
That the ice on the lake stays as one

Chu dey yar lung tsang po
Nga yi mey pö trak gyün
Ma chö sem kyi re dün
Tsang pö shung la drel yö

The river Yarlung Tsangpo
Is the bloodstream of my ancestors
I plant my heart’s unfabricated hopes and dreams
Into the bed of the river

Chu gyün chey pa mey pay
Mön lam yang yang gyab yö

I pray again and again
That the river flows unceasingly

Yül dey yar lung shung khog
Nga yi mi gyü chey sa
Rig suk lang tshö chö pa
Yar lung khog la tor yö

The land surrounding the Yarlung river
Is where my people reside
Into the riverbed I toss
Lovely offerings that represent my people

Yül la mi gyü phel way
Mön lam yang yang gyab yö

I pray again and again
That my people prosper in this land

Drong dey nyi ma lha sa
Nga yi dag pay shing kham
Shön pa nga tshö tsey wa
Lha say trom la khor yö

The city of Lhasa, our sun,
It is my pure realm
Our youthful love
Turns about the city of Lhasa

Lha den ley tro drub pay
Mön lam yang yang gyab yö

I pray again and again
That karmic fortune ripens for this city of the gods

Ney dey do ü kham sum
Nga yi pha sa pha yül
Gang truk shön pay kyi dug
Chöl sum di la chöl yö

These sacred lands of Amdo, Ütsang, and Kham
Are my father-lands
The joys and sorrows of the young children of the snows
Are entrusted to these three lands

A dzom cha dzom yong way
Mön lam yang yang gyab yö

I pray again and again
That they all come together as one

(Last verse repeated)
